Velipadinte Pusthakam: Five reasons to watch the Mohanlal – Lal Jose film

It's been ages since the fans of Mohanlal and Lal Jose have been waiting for a movie in which the megastar and the hitmaker director will collaborate. Finally, it's happening for the Onam of 2017 with 'Velipadinte Pusthakam' and Mollywood is over the moon as the movie hits screens today. Here are five reasons why you shouldn't miss the comedy entertainer!
1) Mohanlal and his hit streak
'Oppam,' 'Pulimurugan,' 'Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol,' 'Janatha Garage,'... Probably with the exception of '1971: Beyond Borders,' the megastar has been having a hit streak for a while. To the delight of his fans, he is signing exciting projects one after the other and 'Velipadinte Pusthakam' has been a much-awaited movie for this reason too. He plays a college lecturer named Micheal Idikkula, who has an 'action-filled' past, in the film. What cannot be more tempting?
2) 'Angamaly Diaries' girl Anna Rajan
Mollywood loved Lichy of 'Angamaly Diaries' and still we haven't stopped talking about the daring nursing tutor. Anna Rajan, who played the role, is back in M-Town as Mohanlal's leading lady through this film and Lichy fans are proud of her too. She plays a college lecturer in the movie, named Assistant Professor Mary.

3) Hit songs by Shaan Rahman
Shaan Rahman's jukebox of compositions for the movie is already a hit, especially the campus song 'Entammede Jimikkikammal.' The video of the song, which has all the major actors of the film including Appani Sarath, Jude Anthany Joseph, Salim Kumar and the like has also become popular enough to inspire cover versions. The song has Vineeth Sreenivasan and Renjith Unni behind the mike and is penned by Anil Panachooran.
4) Lal Jose - Benny P Nayarambalam collaboration
The director - scribe combo has created some memorable movies in Mollywood like the Dileep - starrers, 'Chanthupottu' and 'Spanish Masala.' Will they repeat the magic this time too and score a hat-trick? Fans say a resounding yes!
5) Finally, Mohanlal teams up with Lal Jose
After years of wait, they are working together and as of now, there's nothing not to love about it - be it the released songs, videos, posters or plot. Kalabhavan Shajohn, Anoop Menon, Siddique, Alencier... many top artistes of the industry will also be joining them to make the outing a memorable affair.

Prithviraj on why "Tiyaan" didn't click

Not every actor would admit one of his films was a failure, or that he is responsible for it. But Prithviraj has never shied away from it, and has analysed his films objectively, on more than one occasion. The actor has now done the same with his film Tiyaan, which, he says, probably lacked clarity. The film failed to connect with the audience, and the makers were responsible for it, he admitted. Expectations were sky high for Tiyaan, supposedly a magnum opus, and the film was made in a grand scale. Prithviraj is currently awaiting the release of his next, Adam Joan, and has started work on Detroit Crossing.

The gang also has an adversary in former schoolmate Joy, who belittles them at every turn. One of their plans to avenge and outdo Joy becomes a launchpad for Giri to shine. But will they succeed? Thrissivaperoor Kliptham REVIEW: From the very first audio byte and visuals of Thrissivaperoor Kliptham, debutant director Ratheish Kumar makes it clear the kind of jokes the movie will have and that it will be a proper entertainer, without any experimental gimmicks. Thrissur and its people are the heart of the film, and for the major part of first half Ratheish introduces the characters – one by one – along with highlighting their virtues and vices. Chemban Vinod’s David Pauly is the first to be introduced – a middle-aged macho man whose alcoholism has got his family so worried that they force...
